Why do my animals need a salt lick instead of just loose salt?
While loose salt works, lick blocks encourage natural foraging behavior and prevent over-consumption. Because the block is hard, animals can only take in small amounts at a time through licking, which ensures a steady, regulated intake of sodium and trace minerals rather than a sudden spike.
Is Himalayan Pink Salt better than traditional white salt blocks?
Yes, significantly. While standard white blocks are usually 99% sodium chloride, Himalayan Pink Salt contains up to 84 trace minerals, including:
Calcium: For bone strength and milk production.
Magnesium: To prevent grass tetany.

Will the salt lick dissolve quickly if left outside in the rain?

How long does a standard 5lb (2.2kg) salt lick typically last?
Durability depends on the animal type and the number of head sharing the block, but on average:
One Horse: 2 to 4 months.
One Cow: 1 to 2 months.
Sheep/Goats: 4 to 6 months.
Note: If your animal finishes a block in a matter of days, they may have a severe mineral deficiency and you should consult a veterinarian.
Can I use these licks for all types of livestock?
Most of our natural salt licks are “all-stock” friendly. However, you should always check the Copper content if you have sheep.
Horses and Cattle require copper.
Sheep are highly sensitive to copper toxicity. Our pure Himalayan blocks are generally safe, but always verify if the block has been “fortified” with extra minerals before introducing it to a mixed herd.
